Service Description
Come join us as we celebrate and remember our departed loved ones by making your own miniature memorial - No Art Experience Necessary! Day of the Dead, also known as Día de los Muertos, is a two-day Mexican holiday that reunites the living with the dead. On November 1st and 2nd, families come together to create ofrendas (offerings) to honor their passed family members. These altars are typically decorated with bright yellow marigold flowers, photos of the departed, and their favorite foods and drinks. During this workshop we will be honoring your choice of a dearly departed ancestor, family member, friend, pet or pop icon (musician, artist, or celebrity). For this project, you must bring a photo of your honoree (image to fit within a 4” X 6” format) and any small items you may wish to include such as charms, miniatures, bits of jewelry, fabric, small artificial flowers, etc. Don't worry, we will also have a supply of knick knacks for you to choose from. Memorials will be painted, assembled, decorated, and framed so they can be hung on the wall or propped for display. This workshop will be led by George Ann McCullough on Saturday, October 28th from 10 AM to 2 PM. Lunch and extra materials will be provided, however, you are free to bring your own nibbles and beverages.
