Welcome to our Art Around the World Summer Camp for 6–12-year-olds! Our week 4 program is designed to introduce campers to various art forms from African subcultures, including Silhouette paintings, Kente cloth, and tribal masks. Here's a detailed description of what to expect: • Silhouette Paintings Our campers will learn about the art of Silhouette painting. They will be introduced to the history of Silhouette art and the techniques used to create these unique works. Campers will create their own silhouette paintings using acrylic paints and canvas. • Kente Cloth Campers will learn about the significance of Kente cloth in African culture. They will be introduced to the history of Kente cloth, the meaning behind the colors and patterns, and the process of creating Kente cloth. Campers will create their own Kente cloth designs using paper and markers. • Tribal Masks Campers will learn about the importance of tribal masks in African culture. They will be introduced to the different types of masks used, their significance, and the materials used to create them. Campers will create their own tribal masks using paper, paint, and other materials. Throughout the week, campers will also participate in group discussions and activities to learn more about the history and traditions of African art. They will have the opportunity to share their own experiences and perspectives, and to learn from each other. The cost of the program is $175 per camper before May 1st, and there is a $25 registration fee that covers a complimentary t-shirt and all necessary supplies. The program runs from 9am to 12pm each day. We look forward to welcoming your child to our Art Around the World Summer Camp!
