Service Description

Have you ever said, "I can't even draw a stick figure," or wished someone had simply taught you where to begin? Drawing Foundations I is the starting point of Ethotera's Foundations Program and is designed specifically for true beginners and anyone looking to strengthen their observational drawing skills. Inspired by principles from Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, this four-week course focuses on learning to see the world as an artist sees it. Rather than relying on formulas or symbols, students will discover how to slow down, observe carefully, and translate what they see onto paper with increasing confidence. Through a series of engaging exercises and guided instruction, you'll learn the essential building blocks of drawing while quieting the inner critic that often keeps adults from creating. Topics include: • Contour and blind contour drawing • Modified contour techniques • Negative space • Proportion and relationships • Upside-down drawing exercises • Observational awareness and visual perception • Building confidence through practice This class is designed to create early successes and help students realize that drawing is a skill that can be learned—not a talent reserved for a select few. Whether you're brand new to art, returning after many years away, or looking to establish a stronger foundation before exploring painting and other media, this course will help you begin seeing the world—and your own abilities—in a new way. All materials are included. No previous drawing experience is necessary—curiosity and a willingness to try are the only prerequisites. 4 Weeks • 2 Hours Per Week Part I of the Ethotera Foundations Program
