Observational Drawing & Shading Techniques 6 - week class Explore the expressive possibilities of graphite through observational drawing studies focused on form, texture, shading, and value. In this six-week class, students will work primarily with graphite pencils while developing techniques for rendering still life objects, creating depth, and improving hand-eye coordination through careful observation. Students will learn how to build gradual value transitions, observe light and shadow, and strengthen their ability to translate three-dimensional forms onto paper. Emphasis is placed on slowing down, studying relationships within a subject, and developing patience and confidence through drawing. This class is ideal for students interested in graphite as a medium and those looking to deepen their observational drawing skills through guided practice and longer-form studies. Recommended for students with some basic drawing experience. Cancellation Policy
Refund Policy for Workshops, Classes, & Special Events: Cancellations made 7 days or more before the workshop will receive a full refund. Cancellations made 3 to 6 days prior are eligible for a 50% refund or full credit toward a future class. No refunds or credits will be issued for cancellations made within 72 hours of the workshop. Most workshops and classes have a minimum enrollment requirement. In the rare case that a workshop is canceled due to low enrollment, all registered participants will receive a full refund or may opt for a credit.
