The Color Lab
Begins Tuesday, March 10: Seeing, Mixing, Controlling Color
Service Description
Color is one of the most powerful tools an artist has—and one of the least understood. The Adult Color Lab is a short, intensive learning experience designed to help artists finally understand color instead of guessing at it. Over four weeks, students learn how to see color accurately, mix with intention, and make confident color decisions that translate across any medium. This is not a paint-along or an open studio class. The Color Lab is structured, cumulative, and skill-focused. Each session builds on the last, guiding students through hands-on exercises that break down how color temperature, value, and relationships actually work. Whether you paint in acrylic, oil, gouache, watercolor, or mixed media, the skills taught in this lab will strengthen everything you make going forward. What You’ll Learn -How to see color accurately instead of relying on names or tubes -Warm vs. cool color relationships and why they matter -Mixing clean, intentional color with a limited palette -Creating neutrals without muddying your work -Using color to create depth, mood, and emphasis -How to make confident color choices before you begin a piece What to Expect -A small, committed cohort -Guided exercises rather than finished paintings -Clear explanations and practical demonstrations -A supportive, focused learning environment -Skills you can immediately apply to your own work -All materials provided Who This Lab Is For -Adults who feel frustrated or inconsistent with color -Artists who want stronger fundamentals -Students who want tools, not recipes -Anyone ready to move beyond trial-and-error No prior color theory training is required.
